Website, UX & Digital Strategy

The Brief.


Canopy Clinical is a premier multi-site clinical research organisation. Despite their growth, their digital presence remained fragmented across multiple location-based websites. This created a significant barrier to entry for potential trial participants and diluted the brand’s authority for industry sponsors.

As part of our Website Strategy Package, Code and Visual consolidated this fractured ecosystem into a single, high-performance platform designed with one primary goal: maximising trial participant inquiries.

The Challenge.


The legacy setup was hindered by several strategic and technical hurdles:

  • Recruitment Friction: Potential participants had to navigate multiple sites to find relevant trials, leading to high drop-off rates.
  • Administrative Overhead: Trial data via their Clinical Trial Management System (CTMS) was being fed into separate, disconnected environments.
  • Brand Inconsistency: The lack of a unified home made it difficult to project the scale and professionalism of Canopy’s national operations.

The Solution.


Our role was to architect a unified digital home that simplified the path from "interest" to "inquiry."

1. Centralised Trial Discovery

We moved away from the "site-per-location" model, integrating a new centralised trial database structure into the site. By streamlining the existing CTMS integration into a single, searchable interface, we made it possible for participants to view all recruiting trials across the various NSW locations in one place. We focused heavily on the mobile UX, ensuring that key actions were always within reach.

2. Strategic UX & Information Architecture

We implemented a three-pathway navigation system. While the "Sponsor" and "HCP" sections provide the technical rigor required for B2B credibility, the "Participant" sections were designed for accessibility and empathy, removing technical jargon to reduce the barrier to enquiry.

3. Modular Scaleability

Using a custom WordPress block-based system, we provided the Canopy team with the tools to launch new therapeutic area pages or clinic locations instantly, ensuring the recruitment engine can scale without further technical work required by an outside developer.

The Outcome.


The transition to a unified platform delivered immediate business value:

  • Significant Increase in Participant Inquiries: By removing the friction of fragmented sites and simplifying the trial search UI, Canopy saw a marked increase in the volume and quality of direct enquiries.
  • Operational Efficiency: Consolidating the CTMS feeds into a single environment eliminated the need for multi-site maintenance and ensured trial data was consistent across the brand.
  • National Authority: The new platform successfully reflects Canopy's status as a leading Australian CRO, providing a professional and trustworthy interface for global sponsors.
