Overview

Canopy Clinical Research engaged us to deliver a complete digital transformation across their web presence and campaign assets. The project encompassed UX strategy, stakeholder workshops, a full website redesign and build, and the creation of supporting digital marketing materials. The goal was to position Canopy CR as a modern, credible market leader within the clinical research sector while improving usability for both trial participants and healthcare professionals.

Challenge

The existing digital ecosystem was fragmented, with multiple location-based websites, inconsistent content management, and outdated design. Canopy CR was undergoing a rebrand led by an external agency, and needed a new website that reflected their elevated market position without duplicating the branding work itself. They also required a solution that better served two very distinct audiences—trial participants and healthcare professionals—while integrating real-time clinical trial data from their CTMS.

Approach

1. UX Strategy & Stakeholder Alignment

We began with a complete UX strategy package, including:

  • Stakeholder workshops

  • Audience and persona development

  • Identifying pain points, motivations, and expectations

  • User interviews

  • Goal-setting tied to business objectives

This process clarified the needs of the two core audiences—participants (the lifeblood of clinical research recruitment) and healthcare professionals running trials. This informed the site’s structure, messaging, and user pathways, making it easier for visitors to self-identify and find the information they needed.

2. Consolidating Multiple Websites

We unified numerous standalone location websites into one central platform. This significantly reduced administrative overhead, improved consistency, and created a streamlined, scalable structure maintained through a single WordPress instance.

3. Real-Time CTMS Integration

We integrated the clinical trial management system (CTMS) directly into the site, enabling real-time trial listings to be displayed seamlessly—adding credibility and reducing manual effort for Canopy CR’s internal team.

4. Visual Direction & Design Execution

Although the rebrand itself was completed by an external branding agency, we worked closely with their team to ensure the digital execution faithfully reflected the new identity.
Before entering production, we delivered a design proof of concept to align all stakeholders and clearly visualise the final direction. This gave everyone confidence in the path ahead and created a unified vision from the outset.

5. Website Build & Modular CMS

We developed a flexible modular content system that gave administrators creative freedom without risking layout inconsistencies. The custom-designed modules ensured every new page stayed visually cohesive while being simple to maintain—a major improvement over their previous platform.

6. Campaign Assets & Templates

As part of the full package, we produced:

  • EDM/email templates

  • Landing page templates

  • Supporting campaign assets

This provided a unified digital toolkit across marketing channels.

7. QA, Launch & Analytics

We conducted rigorous quality assurance across major browsers and devices, followed by a managed launch with full Google Analytics setup.
Post-launch, we provided design refinements based on real content and continued to optimise presentation.

8. Ongoing Support

Canopy CR benefits from our long-term support, including uptime monitoring, plugin and platform maintenance, technical troubleshooting, and access to our support portal. We see ourselves as an ongoing partner in their digital success.

We delivered the full digital package from UX strategy to build, working alongside the external branding agency while managing all aspects of the website design, development, CTMS integration, and digital asset production. Our team continues to support Canopy CR with technical maintenance and post-launch optimisation.
