Overview

As a companion to the Fanta “Wanta Fanta” TVC campaign, VML enlisted Code and Visual to develop an interactive touch screen kiosk designed to bring the energy and playfulness of the television commercial into the physical world. The activation combined music, curiosity, and gamification to engage commuters and consumers directly.

Challenge

The goal was to extend the reach of the TVC beyond traditional media and create a fun, memorable OOH interaction that encouraged people to stop, engage, and connect with the brand. The activation needed to:

  • Reflect the expressive, colourful tone of the TVC.
  • Capture attention in a busy public space.
  • Deliver a simple but entertaining consumer experience.
  • Be built quickly, ready to deploy in just 1–2 weeks.

 

Approach

Participants were drawn in by the kiosk’s attract screen and the invitation to put on headphones — a small but effective curiosity hook. Once they listened to the “Wanna Fanta” track, the kiosk transitioned into a short quiz experience:

  • Three multiple-choice questions tested their recall of the song’s lyrics.
  • Scores were shown out of three at the end.
  • Participants were rewarded with free product for taking part.

 

This mix of audio, interactivity, and reward turned the activation into a memorable brand moment.

From a production standpoint:

  • The kiosk was built from supplied designs provided by the campaign’s ad agency partner, VML.
  • While in this case we focused on the technical execution, our team often leads both creative concepting and technical delivery depending on client needs.
  • The activation was fully tested, designed to run seamlessly all day, and delivered on a tight turnaround of 1–2 weeks.

Outcome

The interactive kiosk successfully extended the TVC campaign into the real world, providing:

  • Increased brand engagement — commuters stopped, interacted, and associated Fanta with a fun, positive start to their day.
  • Novel consumer experience — headphones, quizzes, and rewards combined to create a multi-sensory moment.
  • Brand visibility — transforming a commercial into an out-of-home, digital-first activation.
