The City of Forking Paths was built for the Biennale as part of the City of Sydney’s legacy art work collection. The app was developed using Adobe Air for iPhone and Android devices and is a site-specific artwork designed for the streets of Sydney, Australia.
The app houses a custom video player for an art walk experience created by international artists Janet Cardiff and George Bures Miller. Playback is time and geo-locked to play only during the hours of dusk and dawn from Customs House in Circular Quay, Sydney. Adobe Air provided direct native access to the GPU in order to play extremely high quality H.264 video.
